The Career Reminder Every Woman Needs

Whether you’re thriving in your current role, ready for a change, or navigating an active job search, this is a moment that calls for clarity, confidence, and a little more career ownership.

Here’s what I want every woman to hear right now.

If you’re in a career you love

Keep investing in your visibility and your options.

You don’t have to be job searching to keep your résumé, LinkedIn profile, and network warm. Make your wins visible. Share your expertise. Build relationships outside your organization before you need them.

Keep a “career go bag” ready, too: an updated résumé, current talking points, references, and a list of dream companies. Preparation creates options.

If you’re in a career you want to exit

Give yourself permission to want more.

Don’t wait until you are burned out or forced into a change. Start exploring now. Get clear on what you want more of, less of, and never again in your next role.

Then make sure your résumé and LinkedIn profile tell the story of where you are headed—not just where you have been. Informational interviews can help you test your direction, learn from others, and build strategic connections along the way.

If you’re out of work and actively searching

Structure and strategy matter.

Set a schedule. Block regular time for networking, outreach, applications, and follow-up. Focus on roles where you can clearly show value instead of applying to everything.

Show up on LinkedIn. Share insight. Comment thoughtfully. Let people know the kind of work you do well and what you are targeting next.

And lead with your value. Your story is bigger than “I was laid off.” Talk about the impact you create, the problems you solve, and what comes next.

Women are often taught to wait our turn, avoid rocking the boat, or simply be grateful for what we have. But stability comes from staying proactive, visible, prepared, and connected.
