Is Your Career “Storm Ready”?
Hurricane season just started ~ and down here on the Gulf Coast, that means it’s time to pack a “Go Bag.”
I’ve been through a decent number of hurricanes—but this will be my first time experiencing one while living on the water.
There’s a big difference.
The fear factor is real when the wind is howling and the waves are fierce. And whoever coined the phrase “the sea was angry” wasn’t kidding!
So what do we do? We stay prepared.
Flashlights. Power banks. Meds. Important documents.
And honestly? That same mindset applies to your career.
I’ve seen too many smart professionals get hit with a layoff, a reorg, or an unexpected opportunity—and realize way too late their résumé and LinkedIn is outdated and they don’t have a clear story to tell.
Let me say this…it’s tough starting from scratch. Especially when you’re stressed.
What should your “Career Go Bag” include:
💼 A résumé that reflects who you are now
💼 A LinkedIn profile that supports your goals
💼 A short list of people you’d reach out to first
💼 A sense of what you want next
So when the storm hits—or a door opens—you’re not scrambling. You’re confident and ready for that next opportunity.
