Before You Power Down for the Holidays
It’s that time of year when everyone is scurrying around with last minute shopping, travel plans, and holiday menu-planning.
Don’t let your career take a backseat, though.
Here are a few small (but mighty) things I recommend doing before the year closes out:
🎁 Save a copy of your performance reviews. You may not stay at your current job forever. Don’t lose track of documentation that proves your impact. By the way, these documents are perfect tools to update and enhance your resume.
🎁 Update your résumé. Even if you’re not actively job searching, being ready gives you options. Know what else it does? It gives you an added shot of confidence and optimism.
🎁 Revisit your LinkedIn profile. Does it reflect where you’ve been and where you’re going? While you’re there, how about “gifting” a few recommendations to your colleagues? They may even return the favor. Win-win!
🎁 List 3-5 wins from 2025. Give yourself credit. Make sure your accomplishments aren’t lost to memory. These wins can be showcased in your Featured section, Projects sections, and on your resume.
🎁 Check in with your network. The holidays are a natural time to reconnect. Pick 5 people you haven’t spoken to in a while that know your skills and talents. Ask for 10 minutes of their time to catch up.
